Yay for Kodak and Networks!

I think I have had my laptop for about a year now - It's an ACER and I absolutely love it! Anywho we are also on a wireless network here in our home. For about as long as we have been wireless I have been trying to network my Kodak 5100 AiO printer and have had no success. I use Windows Vista on my laptop and the 2 desktops have Windows XP, so I have always figured it must be a communication problem between Vista and XP.

But today I was determined to figure it out, I knew it could be done! So after Shane and I did our checking and double checking, and trying over and over again, and googling everything possible (only to find that Kodak and tech support say it's not possible) - I FOUND IT!! Someone on CNET (we will call him Mr.Genius) had it figured out and it was so simple! Thanks to Mr. Genius, my stress level is way down!! LOL

Here is the forum post I found. Just in case someone is reading this and is having the same trouble, I am going to post how to do it!

Keep in mind our network is already set up and our printer is already set up to be shared.

Go to Control Panel. Choose printer. Then choose Add Printer.

Do not use the add network printer option in Add Printer!
Choose Add a local printer. Click on Create a new port. The default in the drop down box is Local Port. Do not change that. Click Next.

A dialogue box will appear asking for you to enter a port name. Type in the \\computer name\printer name ie. My computer's name is SHANE and the printer name is KODAK 5100 AiO so I typed in \\Shane\KODAK 5100 AiO (Names are case sensitive)

And it worked! Mr. Genius' guess is that Microsoft thinks printers on a intranet are local. Microsoft no so smart after all! LOL

Oh and btw, my new print head for my Kodak printer was overnighted to me and promptly delivered by the great UPS man this morning!! Also in the box was brand new ink and some photo paper to boot! Yay for Kodak! My new printer head installed perfectly and now my printer is once again showing me LOVE!

Sorry for the pictureless post!

I got up this morning planning to get started with housework and school but my dad came over to my back door and said we had to go. This was news to me, Go where? He said he had to go pay his taxes then we were going to eat at Cracker Barrel and then to Starbucks. STARBUCKS? Why on earth I asked? He said no, not starbucks, BIG bucks! Again, I was like HUH? Turns out he was talking about CVS (extra care bucks) LMBO!!! Yeah he thinks it's cool what I do at CVS!

So we went to RiteAid first so I could get my free shampoos and use my SCRs. I ended up with 2 Garnier products, 2 Aussie products, 1 Colgate toothpaste and a Diet Coke. Used my $10.57 SCR and paid $1.16 for my Diet Coke! Not bad!

Then we went to drop off old clothes at the Salvation Army, pay the taxes at the courthouse and then to eat at Cracker Barrel. Dad had a $25 gift card from Christmas (he just remembered he still had it obviously lol) and we paid $5 for the four of us (Dad, me and the girls - Shane was working today) to eat! Again not bad!

We were tired after we ate so Dad and Emira went it Family Dollar to get a few things and I skipped my CVS trip - will go tomorrow or friday since I am not so excited about this week's deals anyway.

When we got home, Emira helped me clean up and then we realized her movies from Amazon were here. So she went next door to my dad's to watch them. I still haven't seen them! Then I decided to fiddle with my printer (Kodak AIO 5100 which I have loved until this week). After trying everything to get it to stop skipping when it prints, I called tech support. After a long explanation and of course doing all that troubleshooting over again TWICE more, they told me what I knew all along (and told them what I needed). I should be receiving a new printer head in the mail in the next few day. I sure hope it works again after the new part, I have lots of coupon printing to catch up on!

Next I started cleaning out Ainsley's closet. {decluttorganization} I found 6 large bags of clothes, some that she has grown out of and some that are larger sizes she will grow into. I went through them all and only kept the very best items that I knew I would use or use again with the next baby. So now I have 3 bags of clothes to post on FreeCycle. I also found a large tub of yarn and unfinished crochet projects from years ago. I posted that on FreeCycle as well. Last I have a large box of stuff - really good stuff- but still stuff I don't HAVE to have. So I am going to have to decide what to do with that box. I would like to give them to my nieces to sell in their yard sale - a bigger chance of making some money for the girls. I don't have near enough to have my own yard sale, and franky I don't want the hassle LOL.

And now it's time for bed -and time to start a new book woo hoo! Tomorrow we will do more cleaning and tossing, and school of course. But if our payday get deposited tomorrow instead of Friday, I will be going grocery shopping!

Well…

We didn't get to go on our adventure to Summersville today :( Some personal issues came up involving my dad and we decided not to go today. But we will go sometime in the coming weeks.

Instead we took the girls to McDs and then to the park to play. Emira was surprised to see her cousins were there too! She was so excited to play with them that I don't think she cared that we didn't get to go on our trip. And I was so busy running my mouth to my friends about great ways to save money using coupons and moneysavingmom hehe, that I totally forgot to take photos of the kids, yikes!
Photobucket
So now we are home and watching the Gosselins, and the girls played in the water outside when we came home. So we will just relax for the rest of the day (and I will play online and print coupons!)

Tomorrow’s Adventure!

Today was a good day! After church we went to pick up my newspapers (gotta get my coupons!) and to the grocery store. I made a huge pot of spaghetti that I thought would last a couple days, but tonight it looks like that's not going to happen lol. It was just too good! Then I spent some time outside with the kids and later dh and I took a long nap. Ainsley napped too so she may be up all night tonight :/

Tomorrow we are going on a family field trip to the Summersville area. It's only about an hour away but I have only visited a couple times. Dh works there most of his days and knows his way around so he is taking us, and my dad is joining us as well. Here are some of the places we plan to visit:

Summersville Lake and Dam

West Virginia's largest lake; Summersville Lake has over 28,000 acres of water and 60 miles of shoreline. I don't think we will be swimming and definitely not boating (I wish!) but more less sightseeing and taking photos. And of course I want to see the dam!

The Mystery Hole

This may be the last and final attempt to make plain this hard to explain MYSTERY HOLE, where the Law of Gravity seems to have gone berserk and left so many people puzzled and bewildered. I have heard this is really fun for the kids, but I am excited to see it as well!

Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park
Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park is an important Civil War battle site. On September 10, 1861 Union troops led by Brigadier General William S. Rosecrans engaged the Confederates and forced them to evacuate an entrenched position on the Henry Patterson Farm which overlooked Carnifex Ferry. The Confederate commander, Brigadier General John B. Floyd retreated across the ferry to the south side of the Gauley River and on eastward to Meadow Bluff near Lewisburg. This Civil War battle represented the failure of a Confederate drive to regain control of the Kanawha Valley. As a result, the movement for West Virginia statehood proceeded without serious threat from the Confederates. I have been here before once when I was a child and I remember I LOVED it! I am truly excited to take Emira and I think she is old enough now to understand and enjoy it herself!

Good Evening Ranch

Contained on our 1000 acre ranch, are wide meadows and pastures, all with sweeping views of the lush wooded countryside. Also, there is a spacious Outdoor Banquet Center (The Waterin' Hole), an exotic petting zoo with dozens of different species of animals, The Feedbox Saloon serving numerous grilled favorites, and a gift shop. We will probably just visit the zoo to see the animals. I have heard that a lot of them have been removed but we are still anxious to see. Also I want to see the salt water aquarium and the gift shop inside the Feedbox Saloon.

Babcock State Park

Babcock State Park offers its guests 4,127 acres of serene, yet rugged beauty, a fast flowing trout stream in a boulder-strewn canyon and mountainous vistas to be viewed from several scenic overlooks. All of this variety is located adjacent to the New River Gorge National 'River and the heart of the whitewater rafting industry of West Virginia.
The Glade Creek Grist Mill is a new mill that was completed in 1976 at Babcock. Fully operable, this mill was built as a re-creation of one which once ground grain on Glade Creek long before Babcock became a state park. A living monument to the over 500 mills which thrived in West Virginia at the turn of the century, the Glade Creek Grist Mill provides freshly ground cornmeal and buckwheat flour which park guests may purchase. Visitors to the mill may journey back to the time when grinding grain by a rushing stream was a way of life, and the groaning mill wheel was music to the miller's ear.
I have been wanting to see and take photos of the gristmill forever, so I am excited to finally get to see it!

We also may stop by Fat Eddie's which is supposed to have the best ice cream ever! And who knows where we will end up eating for lunch. So I hope to post tomorrow eve or on Tues with pics of our adventures!
