Goodbye Kodak!

Today we did our usual payday shopping at walmart. The girls bought a small 3 ring baby pool to play in when its warm until the bigger pool is set up. They had a really cute pool that their Nanny had bought for them before she passed away, but the dog ate it - box and all! Grrrr!

So we came home and of course I had to blow it up since daddy was at work - probably not good for me to do but the pump wasn't working. Then came the water and it was ICE COLD! Did they care? Of course not! Especially Ainsley - she was right in it and quick! They both absolutely loved it and have been waiting for so long to get wet! It was only 76 degrees out so I let them play for about 15 mins before getting them out and dressed again.

But the bad part is that when they first got in, I went to get my camera and found that the screen was black. Then it wouldn't snap so I took it out of the sun to get a closer look - only to find that my screen was cracked and the "stuff" inside was bleeding behind it. Looks like it must have been dropped :( So I took out my memory card and battery and said goodbye to my sweet little Kodak 8mp that took such lovely photos.

So not only did I lose my little camera but I didn't get any photos of Ainsley's first time playing in her pool! Very sad for me! Now to save for a new point and shoot. I do have another one, a Canon that still works very well thankfully, though it is only 5mp.

Also I wanted to post these little recipes here so I can keep track of them - these are for some quick and easy summer treats for the kids! I need more like these - please share if you have them :)

Today…

I have had a really horrible sinus infection AGAIN! Those of you who know me well know I get these every couple months it seems....especially when I am pregnant! So even today, after 6 days I am still blowing my nose!

It's nice out again today so we will be out playing and enjoying the sunshine before it gets too hot. Emira is doing laundry for me today (she just learned yesterday and already she is a pro!) so I just have to fold and put away, and load the dishwasher again. Then get something in the crock for dinner and then I plan to just relax out in the swing and read a book I just started.

I did re-design my blog with a cute kit by Kay Miller - does that count as scrapping?? LOL

Have a great day everyone!

The great cat escape!

This is Buddy aka butter.

Photobucket
This cat is my baby, I found him when he was a week old, his mother abandoned him after the neighbors dog ate the rest of the litter. I bottle fed him for a month while I was preg with Ainsley.. so he is very special to me.

About a year ago he went outside and was bitten by something much bigger than he is and he got an infection, a visit to the vet and big bill to go with it. So after that he wouldn't go near the back door, scared to death of being outside, and of course I wouldn't let him out anyway.

Well Memorial Day morning, Shane thought Buddy might be getting "cabin fever" and let him out on the porch so he could "get some air". Now he's done this before but usually the cat runs right back inside. This time he must have been spooked, cause he ran straight to the woods. This cat is such a wuss and I was so worried he couldn't take care of himself.

Thankfully he was only gone 2 days cause shane felt so guilty..he would call several times from work and would get up every few hours at night to search for him. He was so happy to see him run inside this morning. I knew he would come back but I was afraid he would be hurt again.

Thankfully he is fine and loving all the attention he is getting. He won't be going back out anymore for sure!

Hello Blogger Land!

I am seriously trying today to get back into the swing of things! So far today we have completed our chores, school is almost complete - Emira is finishing her math lesson, and I am working on laundry throughout the day. Meat is thawing for dinner tonight, we are having spaghetti, hubby's fave.

I have totally neglected this blog, among many other things, recently. I have just not had the interest in getting online, blogging, scrapping, designing or even chatting. I really have been enjoying time with the kids and playing with them outside. Emira has had several baseball games - they have lost them all -but it is lots of fun and we all enjoy it.

Baby is doing great! Most of the time I don't even feel pregnant. My morning sickness is almost gone though some days I still have really bad gagging spells thanks to certain smells. My energy is coming back too.

Ainsley is growing so fast and learning so much! She says so many new words now but I really love to hear her call for "sissy" in the mornings. She had a fever a few days last week because of a new top tooth- that makes 3 on top and 4 on the bottom. Her hair is growing but since it's so curly it's not getting any length to it. It just sticks up and is so cute!

Emira is anxious to finish up her 2nd grade work and begin her 3rd grade books. She is really excited about learning to write cursive. Today we received her cursive book in the mail and she was able to read the opening letter from the author all by herself. So she can already read cursive, now she just needs to learn how to write it.

We also got these books today for art and music (part of the Sonlight Curriculum):

And since I am on the subject of curriculum, we also got the Alpha Omega LifePac Science 3 from PaperBackSwap.com (free is always good!)

For Language Arts, Health and Geography/History we will be using Abeka again this year. These are what I still need to purchase. Some of the readers I have found on PaperBackSwap.com so we won't need to purchase them.

And I haven't decided exactly what we are going to use for our Bible curriculum. Any suggestions? We do have the Great Bible Adventures cards we have been collecting and we may keep using those. Last year we used the calvary chapel printables and they were good too.

So add all of the above with some more odds and ends and you have one great eclectic homeschool curriculum LOL. I think mixing it up makes it more interesting, especially for a child who gets bored easily.

I will never be a minivan mom!

I know I have said that for years and years! And I meant it too! I said I would get a super duper suv first LOL. But with the gas prices the way they are and not to mention my big suv payment, we decided we could save quite a bit of money if we did buy a minivan. So we did.

We got an 06 Caravan on Saturday for 9 grand and it's a pretty sweet ride for the price. The girls love it! They are just so excited to ride anywhere in it and even hubby likes to drive it (he hated driving the Rodeo- he says it was designed for short ppl). So now we are not only saving on gas but also over $100 a month on the payment. BTW we didn't trade in the Rodeo, we gave it to my dad to take over payments so he would have 4wd in the winter.

And because we were away buying the van I missed NSD!! I did get some good freebies and caught a few great sales. But I didn't get the chance to give away any freebies myself. I did have sale at my store 40%off and that is through today so you still have time to pick up these new additions by Sassy and myself!
