How about a freebie?
I can't believe it is almost Feb! I was looking at the calendar today with hubby trying to decide what days he needs to put in for his vacation -we are going to GA to stay a few days with my grandma and mom. I really like to visit this time of year because it's not too hot and never too cold. I also like to go to the beach in Feb and walk, taking pics and collecting shells. Love this time of year down south. I just can't do summer though, it's hot enough here in WV during the summer but in south GA - I can't even breathe LOL.
The Faith Sisters blog challenge for today hasn't been posted yet but yesterday's was: If you were to publish a book about yourself, what will you title it? I guess it would be called Simplicity...hence the name of my blog which could be a book if I printed it all right?
I have really been on a roll with designing lately! If I had only known about all the inspiration the Lord would give me just for moving my designs to FaithSisters.com I would have done this before. Don't get me wrong, I will certainly miss ElementalScraps! Especially the other designers - I have made some great friends there! But when the Lord calls you to go, you gotta go!
Usually I will be releasing new products on Mondays but I had to get this into the store last night. I am so pleased with how it turned out. It's an 8x8 Quick Page album that includes 9 pages, just drop a photo behind the .png file.
Get it HERE.
Also I have a free quick page for you to try out. If you have never used these, you will LOVE them and soon you will be hooked on quick pages!

If you download my freebie, please leave me a comment so I will know what you think
I have been getting quite a few apps in for my CT call and I am so excited seeing all the great talent! Someone asked if I will accept apps from scrappers who have never been on a CT before and the answer is YES!! Of course I will! If you are interested in applying for my CT see the previous post HERE.
Well it's time to go and get the meat from the freezer for supper - I should have done this earlier and it completely slipped my mind. I am making Poor Man's Steak tonight and Emira is going to help. She has been helping me cook a lot lately and she really seems to love it! Maybe by this time next year she will be doing all the cooking? LMBO naaa! But it would be nice LOL.
Good Monday
The FaithSisters challenge for Monday is: Why do you scrapbook, and what keeps you going at it?
My reasons are probably the same as everyone elses: to preserve my memories, creative outlet, etc. But now I have to add that it's also because I started something and I just can't stop LOL.
Here are my newest additions to the FS Shop:
And in case you or someone you know is interested:
Today I feel really blessed that I am able to get some things done online as well as some cleaning. I am still working on the laundry but now I just have my blankets to finish up. I have chicken thawing out to make some Spicy Chicken and Macaroni/Cheese for dinner. I'm getting ready to mop my kitchen floor while Ainsley is napping and Emira is reading her history lesson aloud. Good day it is!
Faith Sisters Blog Challenge- Saturday
The Faith Sisters Blog Challenge today is to: blog about what the Lord is doing for you today! Well today He has given me energy to do some things around the house - I have been working on finishing up the last loads of laundry, I cooked breakfast, washed the dishes, made lunch, more laundry, worked on some new designs, commented on some layouts, helped hubby fix the toilet, played with the kids, checked email, posted an ad at DST, posted some in my new CT forum at FS - shew that is a lot!! Thank you Lord, You know how unusual it is for me to get this much done before dinner!

Here are my Week 3 Scripture cards I made today using my newest kit, Enduring Love:

And since I forgot to post week 2:

So far so good on the de-cluttering! I am still going through all our laundry and have 2 more large bags to donate. Also hubby is off the next 2 days so maybe he can help? LOL.
We’re Home!
We are home! The funeral service for MIL was very nice and we really enjoyed the company and fellowship with the family this weekend. I particularly enjoyed getting to know some of my husband's family members better.
Tomorrow I am jumping back into de-cluttering, cleaning and homeschool. I found this, quoted from The Lazy Organizer and it suits me perfectly! I think I will laminate it and hang it in my kitchen hehe.
"If you hate doing laundry then you probably have too many clothes. If you dread doing dishes and they pile up for days then you have too many dishes. If your kids cry when you tell them to clean their rooms then they have too many toys. Get rid of at least half of them and stop buying more. If you've already gotten rid of half of them then get rid of half more." The Lazy Organizer
Today on the way to the grocery store we dropped off 2 large garbage bags of clothes from our closet that we no longer wear, at the Salvation Army. Tomorrow I plan on listing a few things on Freecycle and am hoping to get a lot of "stuff" out of here for good!
I was looking on etsy for a new apron and seen so many that I would love to have but can't afford right now. So maybe I will get out the sewing machine this week and sew one up real quick. While searching I found this: 56 FREE Apron Patterns You Can Make - So many cool aprons here! You must check it out!
She is with Him!
Shane's mom Toni, my MIL, passed away today. Praise God she is with Him now!
The first time I heard this song I knew it reminded me of her but I wasn't quite sure why. Then the day Shane and I were driving down to see her in the hospital, his dad called and said that she had prayed with the church pastor and had accepted Christ! I just cried! Then this song came on the radio and suddenly it made perfect sense!
It's called In Better Hands by Natalie Grant
Thank you all for your encouraging words, thoughts and most of all, your prayers!
So hard to say goodbye…
Sat morning, MIL had to be taken to hospital yesterday, her bp dropped and her breathing was really heavy. She was admitted to ICU and was very weak, they had a hard time finding her pulse. They stablized her bp finally this morning. Her dr came in today and said her cancer has progressed through her entire body and there is nothing more they can do for her but make her comfortable. So they turned off all the machines that were keeping her bp and heart rate stable. She has been sleeping most of the eve and was awake when I left the hospital that night, enough to tell hubby and his dad that she loved them. She is a fighter and she is not giving up. Please pray for our family's comfort during this time, it's been so hard on everyone. Knowing she is going and just waiting for her to pass. At 47 she is so young to be going through this!
But in spite of all the sadness, there is some great news! She accepted Christ yesterday! Praise God this is wonderful wonderful proof of His loving grace!!
I am at MILs house with the kids, hubby and family are still at the hospital with her. It's really hard being here at her house with all her stuff knowing she won't be coming home ever again. I may go back and visit with her later if someone comes here to keep the girls for me. Everyone at the hospital has been just wonderful, the nurses have been so kind and helpful. So many of the local pastors have been coming by to pray over her and that is a great comfort as well. Thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers!
I love you all, my sweet sisters in Christ!
Book News and Scripture Challenge
Great news for the Beverly Lewis fans! I received her newsletter this week and here is what's happening:
So many readers have inquired about the DVD, Saving Sarah Cain, being released January 15th, wherever movies are sold. The Lifetime Channel had to cut 13 minutes for commercials, so in the DVD you'll finally see the entire film, along with numerous interesting "extras," such as interviews with the actors, director, producers, and yours truly. I can hardly wait for your response!
|
| And more exciting news: my first Amish novel, The Shunning and its sequels (The Confession and The Reckoning), are now available in eye-catching new covers. It's the tenth anniversary of the launch of my first adult series, and Katie Lapp never looked so intriguing!
|
The Forbidden, Book Two: THE COURTSHIP OF NELLIE FISHER series, is finished and will be available early in April this year. Currently I'm writing Book Three and I hope your heart is captured by the finale for Nellie's story, as mine is. |
And there is still time to get in on the 2008 Scripture Challenge! Here is my first week's challenge. I am using the large playing cards (also can be flash cards) for my little album. I will print these and then mod podge them to the card.
And here is the template I used to make my cards. You can get this template set FREE here at the FaithSisters shop!

Happy New Year!
2008 is here and all is wonderful today! Happy New Year everyone!
(Please forgive me for not posting through Christmas - actually I did post a heartfelt Christmas blog post but blogger would not let me publish it and when I came back later to try again it was deleted. Something about the title being Merry Christmas and that being the name of a virus being sent through Google?? Who knew that would prevent me from getting my post published! Anywho I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!)
I have really been thinking through my goals/resolutions for 2008 and here is what I have come up with. I want to:
Read my Bible through this year.
I am using One Year Bible Online and subscribing to the One Year Bible Blog.
Pray more.
Need I say more?
Eat healthier.
This is a family goal thankfully and everyone is participating!
Exercise.
Not everyday, just a few days a week will be a great start!
Drink more water.
Drinking so much soda is killing us!
Control my spending.
We are in serious need of a budget!
Create a Home Mgmt Binder.
This will help with everything from our budget to getting my house clean and organized!
Clean my home - top to bottom.
It is in serious need of a good clean! Shane and I (well mostly Shane) cleaned our living room yesterday. We rearranged the furniture, shampooed the carpet and organized somewhat.
Get more organized/clutter free.
The home mgmt binder will help and also the trash can will be my best friend!
Scrapbook more.
I really need to finish 2006 photos and printing - sheez its 2008 already!
Design more.
I would love to release a new product each week even if its something small.
I want to get those books on the shelf read and listed on PBS.
Homeschool better.
I want to do more in our homeschooling, more hands on projects, and more reading together.
and BLOG MORE!
Yes I know this is A LOT to be thinking about doing, a lot of changes will have to be made in my life but I think if I mix it all up and let one encourage me to do another, I CAN DO IT!
